Established furniture manufacturer has a position for an experienced Buyer Planner who will be responsible for the negotiating and purchasing of finished goods and materials, sales analysis and forecasting, and maintaining inventory levels to support product sell sell-through. Candidate should have strong negotiation and communication skills, as well as the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.

This position reports to the Director of Product Management.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze sales and inventory levels to plan purchases, ensuring that products are purchased and in stock based on sales history, SKU performance, trends, inventory needs, sales feedback, and special order requests.
• Analyze, report, and react to daily sales.
• Provide quarterly recaps of current inventory level and inventory turns status to upper management and timely sales reports as requested.
• Issue purchase orders and maintain control of orders and acknowledgements by working directly with factories and suppliers.
• Place buys for assortment in accordance with overall company strategies, brand growth, and financial plans.
• Communicate current inventory status to the Sales and Sales Support teams.
• Work directly with factories and suppliers to resolve any related issues in a timely manner, reducing the impact on operations and overall gross profit.
• Communicate delivery issues to Product Management team, Customer Service and Sales personnel.
• Negotiate deliveries and purchase agreements with vendors.
• Analyze current planning and reporting tools, and propose ideas for how to improve the quality of reporting as necessary.
• Purchase and schedule materials to meet production requirements as needed.
• Strong knowledge of vendors and the products they supply.
• Strategize to promote inventory movement and reduce obsolete inventory levels on a continuous basis.
• Additional tasks as assigned by Director of Product Management.

Qualifications:

• B.S. or advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum 5  years of experience in sales analysis, planning, purchasing, and/or procurement  and price negotiation skills required, within the furniture industry preferred.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong knowledge of competitor and marketing pricing is valuable.
• International supply chain experience valuable.
• Understanding of global commodity pricing indexes.
• Strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize.
• Team player willing to work with other departments within the organization, such as Sales, Client Services and Accounting.
• Inventory management experience.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written), organizational, analytical and planning skills.
• Experience using a variety of computer programs and ERP systems.
