Director of Operations – Cushions

The Director of Operations is a member of the management team, and is responsible for managing the manufacturing, distribution and logistics operations for all cushions operations. This includes the scheduling, production and timely delivery of goods to customers, as well as running a cost-efficient production facility and efficient cushion operations. This position provides overall leadership for all aspects of cushion manufacturing operations in our facilities, including the supervision and control of all operational department activities, and ensures the organization is driven by a focus on the customer.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the management of Cushion department activities to ensure availability of materials and capacity to achieve quality, on-time production.
• Lead and manage all cushion production scheduling activities to cost-effectively utilize resources and meet customer deadlines.
• Manage material levels and flow in support of production activities.
• Establish and monitor performance objectives for materials, scheduling and operations.
• Analyze existing processes and tools, and lead and assist with all process improvement activities.
• Develop goals and objectives for functions within the cushions operations area.
• Standardize operations processes to achieve cost savings and reliable delivery promises.
• Develop and monitor operating plans that allow the company to operate within budget, experience increased efficiencies and cost savings.
• Manage direct reports.

Experience: Several years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with furniture, textiles or apparel.

Required Skills:

• Knowledge and experience in implementing best practice techniques and processes in materials and operations techniques.
• Proficient in the use and benefits of Enterprise Resource Planning.
• Ability to challenge the status quo, analyze existing processes and tools, and develop and communicate recommendations for improvement to management.
• Knowledge of and ability to use process improvement techniques to implement change throughout an organization.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
• Understanding of sustainability best practices in a manufacturing environment.
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills, including determining and choosing alternate courses of action.
• Aptitude for working with, being a part of and managing teams.
• Ability to identify and manage conflict.
• Comfortable with development, analysis and distribution of performance data.
• Ability to transition and lead others during a process improvement period.
