Six Innovative Collections Take Home Good Design Awards for 2018

A jury of leading designers, architects, journalists and educators have chosen the 2018 Good Design Awards, the oldest and world’s most recognized program for design excellence worldwide. After analyzing a record number of submissions from over 47 countries, the Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies announced the year’s most impressive designs and superb achievements.

Works from Janice Feldman, Michael Vanderbyl and Jorge Pensi garnered six Good Design Awards for JANUS et Cie. Two outstanding pieces from Janice Feldman’s Konos collection, the Konos Dining Table and the Konos Chaise Lounge with Arms, received accolades for exquisite composition and rigorous engineering. Another Feldman design, the effortlessly sleek Trig Armchair, was chosen as an award recipient.

Get-Together, Michael Vanderbyl’s compelling reinterpretation of an outdoor icon, the picnic table, received the Good Design Award in addition to two other honors this year: Interior Design‘s Best of Year Award and IIDA/HD Expo’s Product Design Award. Also honored were the modular pieces from Vanderbyl’s marine-inspired Hatch collection, an extraordinary ensemble crafted with premium teak engineered in a distinguished crosshatch pattern.

Among JANUS et Cie’s Good Design Award wins is an iconic design from renowned Argentine designer Jorge Pensi. Toledo Aire is a beautiful evolution of the classic aluminum Toledo chair, now built from a single, harmonious piece of polypropylene. The Toledo Aire Armchair is showcased in a playful palette of finishes.
